Dr. Marquicia Pierce Henderson, has 15+ years in life sciences and tech commercialization. She earned her PhD in Molecular Physiology with an emphasis in Engineering Management from Vanderbilt University. As an Industrial Postdoc at Michigan State University, she was an early member of an academic spin-out, Hibiskus Biopharma Inc. (acquired). During that time, she also earned her MBA at Northwood University. She was the life science specialist for the Michigan Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Tech Team, where she consulted founders of high-tech, high-growth companies across Michigan. Since then, she has supported several tech accelerators and national ecosystem partners with their programming as a Director, Entrepreneur in Residence, or Mentor/Coach. She is active in the investor ecosystem as a Catalyst Angels member and has earned certifications from the Angel Capital Association and Venture Capital University. Driven by a passion for bridging the gap between science and business, she has consulted 100+ science professionals, academics, and entrepreneurs, guiding them through their startup journeys. She has helped these companies secure over $6 million in non-dilutive funding by translating their technological narratives into compelling business stories. She is the Founder and Principal Consultant at Ruby Leaf Media, a science media and communications company. Her mission is to elevate the business story of research.
